Abstract

The reaction of the metal trichloride hexahydrates with 18-crown-6 in methanol/acetonitrile (1:3) at 60 °C yields the isostructural complexes (I) (no yields given).

ChemInform Abstract

The reaction of the metal trichloride hexahydrates with 18-crown-6 in methanol/acetonitrile (1:3) at 60 °C yields the isostructural complexes (I) (no yields given). All three crystallize in the space group P212121 with Z=4. The coordinated Cl atom lies above the crownether and the two water molecules lie below. The remaining Cl ions and water molecules are hydrogen-bonded, forming a polymeric network. The Sm analogue studied has an absolute configuration opposite to that for M: Gd and Tb.
