ChemInform Abstract

The alkylphosphonates (I) are lithiated with LDA to form the lithiophosphonates (II) which are silylated by the chlorotrialkylsilanes (III), yielding the lithiated α-silylphosphonates (IV). Hydrolysis of (IV) gives the α-silylphosphonates (V); alkylation with methyl iodide (VI) produces the α-methyl-α-silylphosphonates (VII). The unsubstituted lithiophosphonates (II) (R2: -H) and the silanes (III) form the lithiobis(silyl)phosphonates (VIII) which are hydrolyzed to give the bis(silyl)phosphonates (IX). Reaction with LDA and (VI) yield the bis(silyl)ethylphosphonates (X).
