ChemInform Abstract

Absorption and Raman spectra of solutions of sulfur in liquid ammonia, obtained for the first time vs. temp. and for a wide range of concentrations, confirm the previous interpretation that the sulfur solubilization in liquid ammonia is a dismutation, yielding the oxidized species S4N- and the reduced species S62- which is in equilibrium with S·- 3.
