ChemInform Abstract

The toluene derivative (II), readily available from inexpensive 2-amino-5-nitro-toluene, is transformed to the mitosene derivative (VI). The intermediate (IV) is constructed from the substrate (III) in a one-pot reaction by criss-cross annellation, a method which is developed for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles such as the desired antibiotic type.
