Abstract

Michael addition of (V) to (I), (III) and (VI) yields the gem-dimethyl compounds (II), (IV) and (VII).

ChemInform Abstract

Michael addition of (V) to (I), (III) and (VI) yields the gem-dimethyl compounds (II), (IV) and (VII). If the reaction of (I) or (III) is followed by quenching with (VIII), hydroboration and acetylation, the products (X) or (XI) are obtained, containing the full set of asym. carbons.
