ChemInform Abstract

Ferrocene (I) is converted to the ferricenium salts (III) by oxidation with aqueous hexafluorophosphate (IIa) or hexafluoroantimonate (IIb). The yield of (III) is raised when (I) is treated with the pentafluorides (IV) in liquid hydrogen fluoride. Reaction of (I) with AsF₅ and HF only results in decomposition processes.
