Abstract

Reaction of the dimercaptothiadiazole (I) with the dibromoalkanes (II) gives certain products due to heterocyclization both via S,S-(III) and via N,S-(IV).

ChemInform Abstract

Reaction of the dimercaptothiadiazole (I) with the dibromoalkanes (II) gives certain products due to heterocyclization both via S,S-(III) and via N,S-(IV). The product distribution depends on the nature and amount of the base used, the number of methylene groups in (II) and the concentration. Several model experiments with monoalkylated derivatives of (I) are described.
