Abstract

Reductive elimination of (I) or (III) using hydrazine affords the imidazopyridines (II) or (IV).

ChemInform Abstract

Reductive elimination of (I) or (III) using hydrazine affords the imidazopyridines (II) or (IV). A variety of other 3-nitro-5-substituted imidazopyridines (V) is prepared, but these cannot be cyclized to the corresponding 1,2,4-triazacyclopentindenes. The 3-amino-5-methoxycarbonyl derivative (VI) cyclizes to the triazacyclopentindenone (VII).
