ChemInform Abstract: Divalent Samarium-Induced Cyclopropanation of Lithium Enolates. A One- Pot Synthesis of Cyclopropanols from Ketones.
Abstract
Acetophenone (Ia) and propiophenone (Ib) are converted to the lithium enolates (II) which react with diiodomethane (III) in the presence of samarium diiodide, yielding the cyclopropanols (IV).
ChemInform Abstract
Acetophenone (Ia) and propiophenone (Ib) are converted to the lithium enolates (II) which react with diiodomethane (III) in the presence of samarium diiodide, yielding the cyclopropanols (IV). The cyclic ketones (V), (VII), (IX), and (XII) are transformed into the cyclopropanocycloalkanols (VI), (VIII), (X), and (XI) or (XIII) in a similar manner.
