ChemInform Abstract: Potassium Promotion of Supported V2O5 Catalysts.
Abstract
Samples of V2O5 catalyst supported on Al2O3 and MgO have been impregnated with a methanolic solution of KOMe and the influence of K+ on the catalytic selectivity for MeOH oxidation, which is correlated to the V= Obond strength, has been investigated.
ChemInform Abstract
Samples of V2O5 catalyst supported on Al2O3 and MgO have been impregnated with a methanolic solution of KOMe and the influence of K+ on the catalytic selectivity for MeOH oxidation, which is correlated to the V= Obond strength, has been investigated. ESR results show that K+ promotion enhances the V = Obond strength in the Al2O3-supported Systems while in the case of the MgO Support a slight decrease in bond strength is observed. The increase in vanadyl bond strength on Al2O3 results in an increase in the selectivity to formaldehyde from 3 to 40.
