Abstract
The reaction of the acetylene-Co complexes (I) with excess of aryl or tert.-butyl isocyanide gives the diiminobutadiene complexes (IIa)-(IId).

The reaction of the acetylene-Co complexes (I) with excess of aryl or tert.-butyl isocyanide gives the diiminobutadiene complexes (IIa)-(IId). These complexes react with the ligands L to yield the 2,5-diiminocobaltacyclopentene complexes (IIIa)-(IIIc). Molecular and crystal Structures of the title complexes (IIa) (space group Cc, Z=4) and (IIIc) (R′: Ph; space group P21/n, Z=4) are determined by X-ray analysis.
