ChemInform Abstract
The reaction of Na2Fe(CO)4 (II) with iPrzNPClz is highly solvent-dependent. In ether the P- bridging carbonyl derivative (I) forms. However in TH F, the novel triphosphine derivative (III) is obtained as the major product beside (IV), (V), and (I). Molecular and crystal structures of (III) (space group P21/n, Z=4) and (IV) (space group P21/a, Z=4) are determined by X-ray analysis. The triphosphine complex (III) is able to replace the diisopropylamino group on the Central Patom with halides, alkoxides, or hydride giving the derivatives (VI) as shown without disturbing the diisopropylamino groups on the terminal P atoms. However, treatment of the chloro derivatives (VIa) (Z:Cl) with LiAlH4 results in P - Pbond cleavage to give the bis(monophosphido) complex (VII).
