ChemInform Abstract

The molecular structures of the dioxa- and diselenadiboretanes (Ia) and (Ib) are determined by X-ray analysis. They are compared with the structure of (Ic). All three compounds crystallize isotypically in the space group P21/ n with Z=2. The four-membered ring systems of the compounds possess a crystallographically imposed Center of inversion, and are therefore planar. The group VI atom has no marked influence on the BN bond length; the boron atoms are electronically saturated via the BN bonds.
