Abstract
Of the MAu intermetallics (M: Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) only RbAu and CsAu give ′97Au Mößbauer spectra consistent with Au in a cubic environment.

Of the MAu intermetallics (M: Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) only RbAu and CsAu give ′97Au Mößbauer spectra consistent with Au in a cubic environment. In the (2,2,2-crypt-M+)Au′ species (M: K, Rb, Cs; 2,2,2-crypt: 4,7,13,16,2l,24-hexaoxa-1,10-diazabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosane) Au also has cubic environments. Evidence for a new phase of composition MAum (M: K, Rb) is presented, which appears to contain only one, noncubic, Au site.
