ChemInform Abstract

The predominant Charged silver Clusters formed in Ag - Azeolite during mild (low-temp. slow vacuum activation) autoreduction are diamagnetic. The lack of paramagnetism is explained by the two-electron nature of oxygen eftraction from the zeolite framwork. "fhis two-electron reduction of silver ions can be concerted because of the intrazeolitic silver ion mobility. Three different Charged Clusters have been identified with adsorption bands at 3-3.l eV (Cluster A), 2.72 eV (B), and 3.8-3.9 eV (C). Olefin sorption experiments show that adsorbed silver ions can be Competitively and reversibly desorbed from Cluster B, and four stages of silver ion desorption have been identified.
