Abstract
The Substitution of one or two bromide ligands in [Bu4N]2[Mo2Br6] by phosphines depends on the reaction conditions (time, stoichiometry).

The Substitution of one or two bromide ligands in [Bu4N]2[Mo2Br6] by phosphines depends on the reaction conditions (time, stoichiometry). The ionic and neutral compounds (I), (II) and (III) were obtained and characterized by analytical methods and IR, visible, and 31P NMR spectroscopy. In the reaction with PhzPCHzCHzPPhz in Me2CO, in addition to the neutral complex the minor products (IV) and (V) were obtained. The structure of the latter was determined by a single-crystal X-ray analysis (space group P21/a, Z=4). Ageneral reaction scheme for the compounds is proposed.
