Summary

Aortic stenosis (AS) and aortic regurgitation (AR) present the left ventricle with pressure overload (AS) and combined pressure and volume overload (AR). These hemodynamic differences create dramatic differences in all aspects of the diseases with different physical findings, natural history, therapies, and outcomes. This chapter will focus on the hemodynamics of the two diseases and their resultant differences.
