Summary

Politics is often the mysterious companion for medical directors as they attempt to craft and manage emergency medical services systems. This chapter focuses on the identification of political principles germane to emergency medical services systems, illustrates their implementation, and suggests a process for achieving education and nurturance of medical directors to enable them to creatively employ these political forces for the ultimate benefit of the patient.
