Radical Tactics
Summary
Leftists, who have historically been linked with public activism and protest, cannot possibly understand what is meant by conservative activism. Conservatives use activism to declare pre-existing rights that are being threatened by illegitimate and arbitrary government policies. The modern Left uses activism to protest against policies they view as impeding rights that will likely never come to fruition. Founded by Wade Rathke in 1970, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is an impressive army of community organizers that liberal politicians can tap to get elected and to promote their agendas. ACORN has always couched its community organizing as a grassroots operation. The Left operates on a declaration of protest of the Constitution, a “Protestution” of Independence. The Left seeks to abide by Protestution, while the Right defines good government through its constitution. One of the most overlooked influences of labor unions is their role in promoting and financing modern leftist politics. With their radical agendas and exceptionally deep pockets, unions are fundamental to shaping the political landscape of the day. Perhaps one of the most radical labor unions in U.S. is the relatively small International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), but it provides one example of how a union's efforts to win concessions for its members can seriously damage the rest of the nation.
