The United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Summary
The United Arab Emirates (the UAE) is a federation of seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Um Al Quwain), which are organized under a federal system governed by the federal constitution (the Constitution) and federal laws. The Constitution delegates certain specific powers to the federal government, and all other powers fall within the jurisdiction of the individual Emirates. There are three independent court systems in the UAE: the federal system, the Dubai Court system, and the Ras Al Khaimah Court system. Each court system is made up of courts of first instance, courts of appeal, and the Court of Cassation.
