Few topics in the primate literature have received more attention than the topic of primate diets. Primates have been shown to consume a wide diversity of foods and primate diets can vary tremendously between seasons and habitats. Food can be considered a selective force, influencing key aspects of primate behavior, ecology, and morphology in relation to environmental heterogeneity. In this article, we provide an overview of the variety of diets consumed by species across the Primate Order. By no means should this be viewed as a complete listing of what is known about primate diets, but it may serve as a starting point for those interested in the subject.
