Abstract

Robert Broom (1866–1951) was a physician, anatomist, and paleontologist of Scottish birth who worked most of his life in South Africa, where he made important collections and analyses of fossils representing early stem groups of the synapsids (the reptilian ancestors and relatives of early mammals) and the hominins (the australopithecine “man-apes”).
