Understanding neural and physiological mechanisms underpinning NPD and trait narcissism may explicate characteristic and problematic behavior observed among narcissists. Collectively, psychophysiological investigations highlighting abnormalities in primary psychopathy, along with studies of extraversion, approach orientation, and self enhancement, comprise the existing literature informing current and future psychophysiological approaches to narcissism.
