Summary

Material processing by severe plastic deformation, SPD is currently receiving much attention due to the promising results in regard to creating sub-micron grained structures in commercial alloys. So far, one of the most promising SPD techniques has been equal channel angular pressing, ECAP. In this process, high shear strains can be obtained by multiple passes through a die without any reduction in the cross sectional area. Nanoscaled microstructures and high strain rate superplasticity are the main achievements from this process, and has been reported frequently the last few years [1–6].
