Abstract

Embedded systems concepts originated in the early 1970s from embedded computer and embedded computer systems terminology defined by the U.S. Air Force for the purpose of differentiating electromechanical systems that contained computers, from stand-alone general-purpose computers that primarily supported data processing and conventional business information systems.
