Personality and experience in an encounter-group

Abstract

In a study of seventeen subjects who had participated in an encounter-group, the subjective experience seemed to be related to personality traits. The more obsessive students felt that they had experienced a positive effect from the group, but at the same time they felt that the group was disgusting. The more oral individuals felt that the group had created emotional strain. The more hysterical persons tended to be unaffected by the group experience.
