Summary

In a study often families with the basal cell naevus syndrome, epidermoid cysts occurred on the skin in 55%, of affected individuals. The distribution of these cysts, mainly on the limbs, is very similar to that occurring in Gardner's syndrome, but unlike the latter disease the presence of cysts is not helpful in making the diagnosis, nor is it of any prognostic significance.
