Foreword
It is always a pleasure to publish and archive the abstracts of the British Paediatric Neurology Association’s annual meeting in Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology. This year is a special year indeed and this is a special meeting, held in the great tradition of the BPNA and more innovative than ever before. The abstracts reflect the dynamism of the field and of the teams. In addition to the latest findings on a wide range of topics from stroke to epilepsy, from immunity modulating treatment to viral gene therapy, it comes as no surprise that a number of abstracts relate to neurological manifestations of COVID-19 in children or illustrate the use of technology for working together in spite of physical distance. These abstracts are interesting and thought provoking, and we must bear in mind that although carefully selected based on a sound process, they did not undergo the same rigorous review and editorial process as the papers submitted to the journal. It is all the more important that participants make the most of the discussion opportunities offered in the context of this meeting to interact between themselves and with authors to take the reported findings further. We will learn a lot from this experience.
I hope the authors of many of these abstracts will write their results up as full papers and we will be happy to see those submitted to the journal.
I will be available for discussion about the journal and our books, any idea or project, throughout the meeting. I very much looking forward to the meeting and those cherished moments of sharing experiences and perspectives.
With best wishes
