Abstract

en

Absorption and emission spectra are investigated, as well as the luminescence decay for NaI crystals doped with Pb at different concentrations and subjected to various thermal treatments. The evolution of the optical spectra after thermal treatment is associated with different dispersion states of the divalent cation impurity in the NaI matrix. After UV irradiation, the NaI:Pb crystals in the precipitation state of the impurity show photosensitivity similar to that observed in UV irradiated PbI2 crystals.
