Controlled intramolecular collapse of linear polymers with benzoxazine side groups is employed to prepare single chain nanoparticles in the size ange of 5-20 nm, as presented by Peng Wang, Hongting Pu, and Ming Jin on page 5133. Polystyrene containing benzoxazine side groups (P(St-co-BS)) is obtained from polystyrene azide and propargyl ether functionalized benzoxazine via the method of click chemistry, which is universal and can help connect propargyl ether functionalized benzoxazine to any type of polymers. The sub-20 nm polymeric nanoparticles with well-defined structure via thermally intramolecular crosslinking of (St-co-BS) are then obtained.
