Graphical Abstract
On page 3209, Weimin Gao and coworkers propose an integrated finite element modeling and computer imaging method to simulate the structure and realistic images of scratches on rough or textured surfaces. The finite element modeling of scratching incorporates a wide range of microgeometries in rough surfaces to ensure the resultant scratch surfaces contain essential features for simulating light transfer. Computer imaging produces a realistic visual appearance of the simulated scratch surfaces in real-world lighting conditions. (DOI: 10.1002/pol.20200560).
