Abstract

The static design of foundations for tower cranes is mostly based on calculations of structural safety like tilting, sliding and groundbreaking. Settlement calculations for evaluating the inclination of the crane, which is restricted by the suppliers of tower cranes , are essential for safe and economic foundation solutions, too. Based on the experience of more than 280 tower crane positions throughout Austria and Germany the method of Müllner & Meister has been extended satisfying the normative and crane specifically requirements and represents an obligation of one of the biggest building contractors in Europe in the sense of today's resource-saving management.
