Abstract

A compact printed monopole antenna for WLAN and WiMAX applications is proposed. By combining symmetrical G-shaped strips and a coupling-fed plate, fed by a 50 Ω microstrip transmission line, wide impedance bandwidths covering WLAN/2.4/5.2 and WiMAX/5.75 are achieved. The omnidirectional pattern and good gain over the operating bands have been obtained by the fabricated antenna with a compact size of 20 × 34.5 mm2, which is suitable for wireless communication applications. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
