Abstract

In this article we present a modified planar inverted-F antenna that is compact and has a wide impedance bandwidth. The antenna incorporates a T-shaped slot on the antenna and a folded patch to increase the path length of the antenna and hence improve its bandwidth. The 10-dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is 81.3% and exhibits quasi omni-directional far-field patterns. The overall dimension of the compact antenna is 34 mm × 8.0 mm × 8.0 mm. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
