Abstract

In this letter complementary split ring resonator is proposed to design compact highpass filter. Highpass filtering is obtained by overlapping a left-hand and a right-hand (RH) transmission band. A fabricated prototype filter having cut-off frequency (fc) of 1.8 GHz shows a maximum passband insertion loss less than 1.3 dB up to 3fc. Implementing area of the filter is smaller than 0.08 λg × 0.09 λg, λg being the guided wavelength at fc. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
