Abstract

The circuit model and the near-field behavior of a novel wide-band E-shaped microstrip patch antenna suitable for wireless communication devices are presented. A suitable locally conformal FDTD numerical procedure is employed to analyze the electromagnetic field excited by the radiator, and to derive a frequency-independent antenna equivalent circuit. Numerical results concerning the antenna parameters are in good agreement with experimental measurements. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
