The formation of heterocyclic thioamides from alkylpyridines, heteroaromatic amines and sulfur was investigated. Oxidative cyclization of these thioamides afforded the corresponding thiazoloazines. Attempted thiation of some hydrazones gave triazolopyridines and some examples of direct thiation of heterocycles are given.
