Key Points

  • A 30-min single session of yoga and Pilates improved postural stability in psychiatric disorders

  • The single Hatha yoga session decreased salivary α-amylase activity compared to the Pilates

  • These improvements were not sustained when measured at the 1-week follow-up

  • Yoga and Pilates could be a treatment option against frailty in psychiatric disorders

  • Further investigations focusing on the frequency and intensity of yoga and Pilates are warranted
