Abstract

The germ-line V gene segments encoding the subgroups A and G of the BALB/c Vχ21 family were cloned and assigned to the previously described 30-kb cluster of the Vχ21 family. Sequence comparison revealed close homology between the two gene segments at the DNA and the predicted amino acid sequence level, indicating that Vχ21A and Vχ21G originated by a rather recent gene duplication.
