A well-controlled segment structure is essential for achieving high-performance copolymers. A series of block type cyclic olefin copolymers which are composed of both high glass transition temperature, rigid segment and low glass transition temperature, soft segment, and feature high mechanical strength and heat resistance, excellent transparency, and remarkable toughness were developed. These materials were successfully employed in modification of different polyethylenes. More details are discussed in the article by Huang et al. on pages 983—994.
