Abstract

(4S, 5S)- and (4S, 5R)-5-Hydroxy-4-decanolide (1a and 1b), the proposed autoregulators from Strepotomyces Griseus were synthesized from a propargyl alcohol 2 in an overall yield of 30%, employing the Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation as the key step.
