ChemInform Abstract

The Pd-catalyzed coupling of aryl iodides (I) with silylacetylene (II) under standard Sonogashira conditions are compared with modified reaction conditions involving the formation of the aryl Grignard reagent followed by Pd-catalyzed coupling. The modified conditions give improved yields for some halides bearing hindered electron-withdrawing groups.
