ChemInform Abstract

The title compound is prepared by metathesis reaction of Na5PV2Mo10O40 and AgNO3 in H2O (25 °C, 26% yield). Ag5PV2Mo10O40 crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pequation image with Z = 2, as revealed by single crystal XRD. The title compound has unprecedented catalytic activity for the selective O2 sulfoxidation of 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide under ambient conditions. Catalysts with such activity can be utilized for purifying air by selective oxidation of the toxic agents therein, including sulfur compounds.
