Hydroxy-alkylation of an alkyltitanium intermediate derived from diallyldiphenylsilane (I) provides the β-hydroxysilanes (III) with complete diastereocontrol. Following Grubb′s ring closing metathesis gives silacyclopentenes in good overall yield.
