ChemInform Abstract

New chalcones (III) (13 examples) are synthesized by Claisen—Schmidt condensation and transformed into corresponding chromones (V) (8 examples) via α,β-dibromominated chalcones (IV). Some of the chalcones and flavones exhibit good antibacterial activity.
