ChemInform Abstract

The isotypic intermetallic title compounds with Ln: Y, La—Nd, Sm, Gd—Tm are prepared by arc melting of the elements. The Ln2Ru3Ga9 compounds crystallize in the space group Cmcm with Z = 4, as revealed by single crystal XRD data for Dy2Ru3Ga9. The structure consists of layers composed of only Ru and Ga atoms in a hexagonal close-packed arrangement (edge-sharing RuGa6 octahedra). These layers alternate with less densely packed layers of composition Dy2Ga3.
