ChemInform Abstract

The new cluster compound (IV) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 4. The structure consists of infinite chains of [As6V15O426-] clusters covalently linked by two different geometries of [Co(en)2]2+ groups. Water molecules and isolated [Co(en)3]2+ ions occupy interchain regions. The water molecules, amine nitrogens, and terminal oxygen bonds form an extended hydrogen-bonding network. Magnetic measurements reveal that the overall magnetic behavior is weakly antiferromagnetic.
