New, both racemic and enantiomerically pure, sulfinyl-1,3-dienes are readily synthesized via intramolecular Heck reaction. The reaction of E-olefins like (I) and (V) is highly stereospecific affording exclusively the (E)-isomer (II) and (Z) isomer (VI), respectively.
