A new technology for the introduction of either N-hydroxyamide or N-(hydroxy)thioamide linkages into pseudopeptide chains without racemization involving the coupling of N-(benzoyloxy)amines with Fmoc-protected amino acid derivatives [→(III)] as the crucial step is developed.
