ChemInform Abstract
Cardanol, the main component of roasted cashew nut shell liquid, is a mixture of 3-pentadecylphenol and related derivatives with partially unsaturated sidechain which can be used as stabilizers for various organic compounds including foods. The first catalytic preparation of cardanol-derived o- and p-benzoquinones using the H2O2/MeReO3 system is presented. In addition to the starting materials compounds (II) and (VI) show potent cytotoxic activity against murine fibroblast cell line.
